The purpose of the delegation is to support the UK film industry grow their relationships with the African film industry in order to facilitate, understand and maximise potential opportunities, both current and future, which Africa presents. In order to build on the existing treaty with South Africa and further explore future opportunities, the BFI is partnering with the Africa Hub during the Berlinale. In its fourth year the European Film Market’s Africa Hub has been developed to build networks between African filmmakers and European producers. It offers a range of events such as panels, presentations and talks that allow distributors, buyers, filmmakers and policy makers with a focus on Africa to network and understand developments, trends and opportunities within the African film industry. The delegation would take part in the Berlinale Africa Hub programme which encompasses networking drinks, meetings, presentations and talks.
